HSNU Wind Band

The history of the HSNU* Wind Band (HSNUWB) could be traced back to the 1960s, at the time the band was more like a drum corps rather than concert band. The band served the School and the nation in several international events including cremony held in Prisidential Palace.

In 2003, HSNUWB was invited as an overseas guest of the All Japan High School Wind Band Conference held in Hamamatsu, Japan, and was further participate in Miyazaki International Street Music Festival in Miyazaki, Japan in 2014 and 2019.

Note: HSNU is the abbreveation of 'High School of Normal University'; Official full name of the school shall be 'The Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University'.

HSNU Alumni Windband

The alumnus of the HSNU set up Alumni Wind Band (HSNUAWB), in 1993. The purpose is to keep momentum over our musical hobbits. The band held an annual concert titled "Back to the Stage" in consecutive summers after the reformation of the Band in 1999. The band currently consisted more than hundred members aged my from teens to sixties, with all members graduated from the HSNU as the uniqueness.

We are proud of the history and the interconnection among members and Via vast repertoires from classical transcriptions to contemporaries and Taiwan premiere and concerto performed by alumni virtuosos, we endeavor to promote wind band music in Taiwan, and aim to excel in amateur concert band.

The Band made several Taiwan premiere during twenty years, including works by Johan de Meij, Nigel Hess, Ferrer Ferran, Timo Forsström, Øyvind Mod, and Antón Alcalde. For concertos, we covered most of instrudement in the concert band incl. Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Tuba and Percussion - and actually we also invite alumnus violist.

Pursuant to the Standards of the Taipei City Performing Arts Administration, HSNUAWB was registered as an Non-for-Profit performing group in Taipei City, Taiwan since December 2005.

We are an eligible cultural institution under Article 11 of Income Tax Act in Taiwan - i.e. your donation is tax deductible with an official receipt. Your contribution is crucial to us. Our partnered online platform accept credit cards issued in most countries, includes UnionPay issued in China.
